Today I clean installed vista home premium using orev's guide via windows anytime upgrade disc. I made ABR BACK UP as suggested in a flash drive. The ABR_restore applications runs as it should but windows remain ''unactivated''.

    Please help.

Calling them wont cost you anything. You will speak to an answering machine where you key in your product number and in return it will give you an activation code.

You can also try activating online

    Quick update!!!

I tried the key on the sticker on back of my laptop and it got activated. Earlier I was using the key generated by ABR.

    Thanks for all the help.

You cannot activate over the phone using the key generated from ABR. I'm curious as to why it did not work, as every so often a report like this comes up. Some reasons could be if you installed a different version of Vista than you had a license for, but then the online activation wouldn't work.

Glad you got a workaround though, and that you at least have a clean system!

Thanks for the input, but I used the same version as my original.
Online activation went smoothly with the keys on the back.

    So for clean install,
    1. Get Anytime upgrade DVD, install
    2. Use the key on the back
    and voila.
