A relative of mine was trying to Video Chat with me on AIM. However, when I connect to him, we both only get the audio portion of the Video Chat - the Video from the other person is missing, replaced with a black screen. We can both see ourselves in the corner, but we cannot see one another. The audio has no problem.

We're both using the latest versions of AIM, and one person is using Vista Home Premium 32-bit while the other is using Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Are you behind a router, and/or have a firewall blocking the ports?

You could portfoward your router amd make the necessary rule in your firewall.

Well, you see, my relative and I were testing it at my house, so we were behind the same router. We even tried disabling our firewalls as well, with no luck.

I have previously video chatted with a friend of mine successfully, but I happened to be using an earlier version of AIM at the moment.

You could try to see if it's a problem with you or aim by using another video chat program. Personally I use AIM or Windows LIVE messenger.

Try going to Edit->Enhanced IM and set your webcam to the one you have? I think MSN would be the best video chat.

Yup, we both went and selected the webcam. It's not that the webcam doesn't work (we can both see ourselves in the bottom corner), it's just that the feed from the webcam isn't being sent to the other person.

Try something else. Try MSN or Yahoo.

When it worked were you using the same router. Have you tried updating AIM? Have you been able to chat over the internet?

My aim exits out of the video after about 10 seconds. I never figured it out.

Personally I don't like AIM's video chat system. You should try another software like MSN or Skype. Even Yahoo's messenger is a lot better.
