I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that this laptop is a 64-bit processor (and so I doubt it), but AIM doesn't seem to be working for me on this laptop. It can't seem to "reach the server", although I am using the same exact cable connection on my desktop and it works just fine.
Anyone want to help me out? Haha.

Nope, 64-bit processors run 32-bit applications. It must be something else.

Try using the old AIM not AIM Triton
-
That's what I did. I really don't like Triton.
Could it be because it's not a "Windows Pentium" processor?
I'm confused. These are the requirements.
Q: What are the requirements to use the older version of the AIM service?
A: Older versions require:
Free AOL Instant Messenger™ (AIM) account and software, click here to download
Windows®: Pentium processor running Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
Macintosh®: PPC running OS X.1 (or later) -OR- OS 9 with CarbonLib 1.3.1 (or later)
128MB RAM
20MB of free hard drive space (40MB of temporary space for the installation)
56.6 modem
Internet connection that allows full Internet usage (not just a free email service)
800x600 resolution, 256 colors or more
Full duplex sound card -
You know thats funny because my aim has been acting up latley too, when i first start my computer it will not reach the server the first time I try to connect then i click connect a second time and it works.
-
Oh, and I disabled the "Wireless Service" (although I don't have any) on the network connections screen.
Btw, Z5Sharp, I have the same model. I don't know what difference that would make though. -
are you sure that there is no firewall blovking AIM from connecting ?
-
I'd love to check but my Norton Internet Security is being a pain and is so slow.
-
I suggest you use aim 5.9, triton sux!
-
For anyone who wants the old aim without ads and such should head over to this site: http://aftermath.dyndns.org:8888/~aimadhack/ and go to the downloads section and click on the link that says
-
