Jesus, it's just never-ending, isn't it?! To all intents and purposes, iTunes 7 works fine. Plays all my songs, syncs with my iPod, no problems. But every so often I'll be browsing Firefox, and seemingly at random, the minimized iTunes window will flash orange. Cue Firefox ceasing to respond in any way. Can't click links, can't type, can't close it, nothing. So, I close iTunes, and then continuously hammer away at Firefox's "close window" button, and eventually it will close. But that isn't the end of the wierdness: 1) If I open Firefox again, it will work and 2) for the next minute or two, iTunes will randomly open once or twice automatically, without any input from me whatsoever.

What in blazes is going on here???

iTunes is not playing correctly in the Vista environment, especially when other apps are open. Blame Apple; they had the Vista source code for months and did nothing.

As wierd as it sounds, I'm actually glad you said that. Stops me from thinking my laptop is faulty!!!

Actually, it *seems* to be working now as normal. I uninstalled Foxytunes and everything's been stable since, for the last 40 minutes or so, so fingers and toes crossed I've found and removed the problem....

iTunes isn't "working" in Vista right now...Apple tells its iPod users not to upgrade to Vista until they "fix" the problem...an attempt to coax users to "Switch to Mac" if you ask me :p...

Yeah, iTunes works fine for me. Been using it all evening. And the problems in my OP seem to have gone since I shopped Foxytunes.....

Why do I get the feeling Apple, Microsoft and Mozilla, amongst others I'm sure, are all determined to muck up the other, with scant regard for us, the end user, who just want to mix and match all their products effectively.....

Actually in this case MS is not one of the perps. All of the software vendors have had free access to the source code for months, so they are without excuse.

I'm going to confidently and boldly declare the problems I was experiencing with iTunes over! Foxytunes must clearly have been the problem...

So happy because iTunes is by far my favourite music player. Windows Media Player and Media Centre are nice and all, but I'm a big fan of the whole iTunes/iPod thing and using anything else wouldn't have set well with me!

    :)

The big plus of iTunes is its user interface and intuitive menus. Sound quality i think both are the same (between iTunes and WMP).

I was just about to ask you if you had Foxytunes installed... I suspected this would be the problem. Glad to see you got it worked out!

    Lol.

The sound quality would be the same no matter what audio player you were using because the file is simply being played. Since the file isn't changed and your speakers aren't being changed by the audio player, the sound quality is exactly the same.

Nevertheless, I agree, iTunes is great.
