I believe that ATI has started directly supporting their mobile chipsets, so I'd personally go with the ATI sourced drivers over the modded ones. No real need for it any more.

No, they only released a Beta W7 driver, but that was it. Back to modding desktop drivers as usual.

Any particular reason you feel the need to update? Current drivers crashing?

No. He doesn't have the software suite (Catalyst Control Center) installed even though the driver is. I have the same issue on my laptop, but it doesn't really bother me since I have no need for CCC.

OP, you may have to use something like Driver Sweeper to clean out the original driver before you install the second one along with CCC, otherwise having both drivers on there may result in BSOD's caused by driver conflicts.

My experience is that while you sometimes get a few frames per second improvement from driver version to driver version, it is not noticeable. The real boon to driver updates is stability. If you are not experiencing instability, than video driver updates are not the end all to be all.

CCC will give you options like Avivo Powerplay, forcing AA, multiscreen setups, and various other options. It depends on whether you need to adjust these settings or not, that you should download it.
