Hi.
I have been using the pre-installed nortons internet security, but i had problem so i installed the free avg, i have used a thousand times on other systems.
But it keeps telling me that CPU-Z 1.44.1 in infected.
I have downloaded it from the main CPU-Z website
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
Is it infected or is AVG giving me a false positive or is my system infecting it on down load.
any help appriciated.
thanks
John.

It's a false positive for sure, if you downloaded it from their main site. If a virus was going to stick itself to something it would be something vital not some random software, it'd stick itself to your "uxtheme.dll" or "explorer.exe".

False positive would be my guess. -

Im using AVG w/ latest update and it doesnt seem to find CPU-Z as a trojan

I just downloaded ver 1.44 and got the same threat warning from avg when extracting the file. I then downloaded ver 1.43 from cnet with no threat warning. I'm currently doing a virus scan.

NOD32 here says it's clean

I got that message from AVG as well, so I just download CPU-Z 1.44 from (i think) filehippo and no virus warning. 1.44.1 from filehippo did trigger the warning as well.

AVG is a really good antivirus!
But it's also very good for producing false positives a lot...
AVG FREE CPU-Z 1.44.1 is infected with a trojan
