The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    AVG's New Rootkit Detection/Removal Program

    AVG is offering a free rootkit/detection removal program. I haven't read any reviews on it, so don't know how effective it is. You can download it from AVG Free Anti-Rootkit. It's just below the download section for their free antivirus. Clean, easy interface.

    I ran it on my desktop. Took about 15 minutes to run, came up clean.

    I saw that DL.TV also introduced it to their viewing public, but has yet to fully test it. There will probably be a review coming very soon as to how well it actually performs. Since it is still beta, there will be some bugs to work out later.
