    Try this:
. right click on any AVI files, choose to open it with whatever media player you want. Check the option to open this file with the app as always

    or:
. go to file associations, and assign the media player to the file in question

    cheers ...

Use the 32 bit Explorer and navigate to the folder with the AVI files.

The path to the 32 bit Explorer is

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\explorer.exe

Hope this helps. :) I am assuming that those AVI files are not your normal AVI files and I assume that you have codecs installed.

I had a similar problem after installing a new version of the K-lite codec pack, another user on the forum told me to open up Haali media splitter and look under explorer integration under the options tab. There should be a sub-column labelled "offset". After that I changed the default value from 0 to a larger one in milliseconds to get some thumbnail clips back.

How about reviewing your folder options, and turn on picture presentation for each file?

    cheers ...

I recommend uninstalling klite codec pack and using this:

    http://shark007.net/vistacodecpackage.html

It has fixed all my problems, I could never get mp4 video thumnails to show before with klite but it works with this. Good luck

I too can't get avi/mp4 thumbnails on my computer. I have tried several codec packs but nothing seems to work. It worked perfectly on my old system which was vista32 but now I have a new system with vista64 and it doesnt work. If you find a solution please let me know.

    Have you read this thread?

    http://www.planetamd64.com/lofiversion/index.php?t30354.html

It's for XP x64, but the information may help solve your issue.

    *Edit*
I came across this in several Google hits - sounds like the best bet to fix the problem.
