Hi,
I have an old Acer celeron laptop Celeron 530 @ 1.73 GHz, 80 GB HDD and 1.5 GB RAM originally installed with Vista
I felt the vista OS is heavy load for this system as the system response time is very slow, I decided to install Win xp and went with it, done a successful installation
I am able to connect to internet, need some help on the same.
After installing XP, i updated the chipset driver "Chipset_Intel_v8.3.0.1013_XP86"
Can someone help me with the LAN/modem (for internet connection) and other drivers that need to be updated please
Thanks in Advance

If you laptop doesn't have the Acer driver for XP then your stuck where your at. You should instead go Windows 7 and load the Vista drivers into Win7 and that will work better. Also you want to update your celeron at least to run better if the upgrades aren't that expensive. I do recall 5315 are also core2duo if memory serves me right.

But the site also talks about XP driver there so you should look at that link. -
Hi Stormjumper
Thanks for the info
most of the links referred in your guide (link page) is broken/does not take me to right page.
I am still clueless
I can see bunch of drivers available for aspire 5315 xp os
http://acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers (finding aspire 5315 and xp os)
I need to know what is my next step after installing xp os and chipset drivers...
Thanks in advance -

Sorry but this does happen when links get 6-7 years old.
The only way to do it is try them until you find one the works. It's really the only way to do it since your Acer was meant to run something else. You may also need to down grade your BIOS too. If this is not something that you think you can do then I would give it a clean install of Vista.
