It is obvious to me that this must be a WLM problem b/c I am able to type in here just fine.

When I am typing a new email message or forwarding an email and typing a message in it, the apostrophe symbol doesn't come up!! It's a French e with the backwards hyphen over it instead!! (for example the apostrophe in the word "doesn't") I've tried clicking on every key on the keyboard that has a red thing on it. I read the manual for my Acer Aspire 6920 and couldn't find a thing about what the keys with the red symbols mean. I know the blue ones can be used when I press "num lock" but be darned if I can find a thing about the red ones.

I looked at every option and safety option in WLM but nothing there helps me either. Neither does my Help & Support. Does anyone have any ideas?? I sure hope someone can help me out with this ridiculous, annoying problem!!

Try typing in Notepad. Does it happen there too?

...And what's the connection with these "red symbols"? Why did you mention them? Is there one on the apostrophe key?

    Hi Swarmer!
Thanks for the reply and sorry I didn't get back to you before this - I am in the middle of a move from one end of this province to the other! Yes, the problem happened in Notepad. That was the first thing I tried and then I also opened a blank Word document and tried it there, with the same results.

I finally called the place where I purchased my laptop and spoke to one of the workers there that I know, personally. He helped me figure out and correct the problem. It had to do with the language part of my laptop. He had me change some language configuration and it worked! He told me that sometimes, for no apparent reason, the initial configuration gets changed and you have to change it back. Apparently it only happens the one time b/c he hasn't heard back from anyone else that the problem has happened again.

So, swarmer, thankyou for trying to help me out. My keyboard on this laptop has the blue keys and also red keys. The red keys are the French language keys and can be configured in "language".
