Hello Everyone.
I have had my Extensa 4620z for a few months now and have finally decided to rip vista and install xp for obvious reasons.
I bought myself the xp, then when i tried to install I recieved the notorious, "no hard disk found" message I have read so much about. I must have spent 12 hours reading what to do today including several post on this site. Problem is I need to it put in laymens terms. Although I believe I have a good basic understanding.
Could someone please tell me if I am right or wrong? Please.
Anyways...I have already made back up disk of vista incase of emergency. Also now I have downloaded the f6flpy32.zip file and ordered myself an external floppy drive as well as some blank floppy disks, which should arrive in 3-4 days.
Anyways...I'm just trying to gain some reassurance that I know what I am doing please, please, tell me if I am wrong. I've read all directions on at least 20 websites, so I'm sure I can do it, like I said just wanna run it by somebody because I've never done this before.
QUESTION:
(How do I burn the image of the file to the floppy)...is this right?
Extract the f6flp32 zip file using win rar.
Insert blank floppy disk into floppy drive.
QUESTION:
(Now how do I get the image unto the floppy disk)???
Can I just copy and paste, or do I have to use something like poweriso (if so how do I get the image onto floppy rather than cd.??)
Once I get the image of the driver onto the floppy disk I believe I ...
Run XP, Press F6, press S to load floppy image (f6flp32) from floppy drive
Format harddrive
Install XP
(Is that right???) (If not, then what is?)
I'm guessing if XP sucessfully installs, I will have to start downloading various drivers for the acer extensa 4620z (I found a great Euro ftp site from another post on this site).
QUESTION:
should I install the xp drivers to vista before I even install xp?
( Or can i do that after xp installation?)
Please let me know if I am completly way off though!!!
Thank you in advance sooo much.
