Since a couple of years ago we´ve been using ACER netbooks in solar powered remote scientific data recording. The main reasons for choosing these netbooks (Acer AO150 to.. 751, etc.) and (till now) XP OS, have been rather low power consumption and well proven XP USB peripheral management (VISTA was a disaster and about W7 still prefer waiting for full software compatibility and general reliability).

Though power reserve is normally quite generous (up to 10 days autonomy) some (hard) weather conditions may force the system to shutdown. In this case and due to remote situation of these installations, automatic netbook restart may be of great utility.

Does anybody know of a power management utility that might restart the netbook after this battery recharge to safe levels?
