Using the 2/28 version 181 build 516, and coming from Avant seems pretty impressive. Thought those that use IE shells like me might want to take a look at it. It's at download.com, but that's not the latest version.

I use IE shells because I keep my favorites in one place, compatibility, and I can pretty much bury IE for good. I used FF for years, but I like Acoo better than Avant I think. IMO it is, but that's just MO :D :D

Yes, me maybe also....it's a close call....Acoo seems a little faster though, but it could be my imagination :D I'm using them both now. Had Maxthon on wife's laptop for quite a while now...she likes it....

Doesn't Maxthon feed off of IE?

It uses the IE engine, yes. That's why I use IE 'shells' for compatibility, centralization of bookmarks (Vista Favorites Folder) and security fixes, spy and ad blocking, etc. Maxthon has some awesome skins too, and nice plugins/extensions.

I tried many alternative browsers and chcked them for speed and resources (and compatibility). If I remember correctly Acoo was taking a bit too much of processor resources which I wanted to minimize at the cost of using more RAM.

I finally ended up with Opera and K-meleon (and IE or maxthon on rare occasions).

I've used Maxthon2, it was pretty alright but I'd rather use IE than an IE shell as i don't use it as my main browser.

Yeah, I wouldn't use a shell if FF was my main browser...however, I've really learned to appreciation Maxthon2...the GUI and the internet has never looked better :D

Hm. I like some features of Opera, I liked a couple of the menu actions in Safari, but I didn't really like Maxthon. FF is just totally wicked. :p
