Does anyone how should I backup my files with Acronis 9.0? I just formatted my hard drive and wanted to create a backup so I don't have config my settings again. Where is the best place to put the backup-ed files: External HD or DVD? How should I go about creating a bootable CD? Are there any things I should be aware of before backing up? etc Thanks in advance.

I have 9.1, but I think it's pretty much the same. I put my backup in two places. I had a spare HD, so before I installed anything I cloned the drive onto that one in case anything happens. :) I also use the backup feature and put that on my external HD. I do the external HD backup about once a month. The bootable cd is pretty straightforward. There is a button on the toolbar with a life preserver with disks on it. Hit this to make the CD. I just checked all the boxes for stuff to put on it, because you never know what you'll need :) Before backing up, you can't really use your PC for anything while it's backing up, so I usually do this when I'm out during the day or before I go to bed.

I backed up my C drive, split them into 2 4.7 GB chunks and put it D drive. So now, if my C drive crashes, do I just put in the bootable CD and browse for the backed up files, or is there something else I should do?
