I'm thinking about cloning my hard drive using Acronis Migration 7.0 (free trial version of course). My current HD is 320GB, the one I will be buying is a 500GB HD. I am currently using about 260GB in my 320GB HD.

My question is regarding the cloning process. When it clones the 260GB into the new 500GB HD... will it show up as two different partitions on the new 500GB HD (Like partition 1-260GB, partition 2-remaining free GB). Or will it just show up as a single partition (260GB used of 500GB)?

I know this is a little wordy, but I wanted to be specific.

thanks for the quick reply... have you used the Acronis Migration program before to clone HDs?

I've used Acronis True Image. Works like a charm. Not sure how this Migration software is different from True Image though, other than costing $10 less.

No it will not create multiple partitions. Like Acronis TrueImage, it should automatically extend the filesystem. It will clone the partition you select, not the way you set up the copied HD.

I hope this response makes sense as I am typing this with my PDA. Feel free to ask more questions.
