Hi... i have recently purchased Acronis 10 and i have just finished doing a full clean install of windows, drivers, and updates... I wanted to get a clean install that i can revert to if needed without installing my antivirus software...

my main question is- i havent installed my DVD/CD burning software yet... should i install that before installing acronis? does acronis require you to have the burning software installed so that it can burn the backups?

and... would it be okay to install the burning software before installing the antivirus software... in the past i have usually tried to get my antivirus software on their directly after all drivers and win updates... this was because previously i was using norton and know that it makes changes to windows files... hopefully i am making sense here...

I would say to install your burning software. What you should do is create the backup with split archives. I normally make 650MB archives with maximum compression. Afterwards I use Nero and burn the archives to a DVD.

Honestly it does not matter the order that you install the software. Norton is a resource hog and I would recommend that you install the anti virus before going online.

Acronis 10 has the ability to burn directly to DVD using it's own burning software so you don't need to install any other burning software first if you don't want it as part of your backup. They incorporated the ability to backup to DVD starting with version 9.0.3677 I think.

remember that acronis has a function that can take a part of you harddrive and use that as a place to put your backup on .
you wont see that part so you cant delete it or it cant be damaged.
you will lose a bit of hdd space but you will always have your backup with you.
