I downloaded the trial version of the Home backup software. I put in the "user name and password" and scheduled incremental backups. I did an initial complete backup sucessfully. However, it has not done an incremental backup over the past week. When I open the program I can't find a window where I can reschedule a backup yet it says that the program is working properly, but it obviously isn't. I have emailed Acronis and am waiting for response but would love to have any suggestions to fix this.

I'd suggest not even using the incremental feature. Just get a big external and make a new full image every week or so. Doesn't take that long. I've had 100% success slapping that Acronis image via the Acronis boot CD on even 'bare metal' HDDs with no issues whatsoever, both XP and Veeesta.

Well that certainly is a possibility and I actually did that once. However, it is not really the way I want to use it as I actually add quite a bit daily and wouldn't want to wait a week or have to do the total update daily or every 2 days. So any thoughts as to why the "incremental" function is not working for me or how to fix it?

I usually make two tasks. The first does a full backup once a week, the 2nd does an incremental/differential each night.

Set up the 2nd task AFTER you run the first one all the way though.

Aside from that, some things that may cause Acronis to fail:
    1) Master File Table is messed up...run CHKDSK (with the option to verify all files) after making a manual backup.
    2) Password is not quite right. It will run, but it might not work. Verify.

I'll think about possible other errors and post if I can think of any.

What version do you have? And does a new full backup function?

I have True Home Image 11. Yes, I initially did a full complete backup which worked. Will try CHKDSK but I really don't know what I would be looking for. Thanks for the reply and maybe advise what I should be doing with the CHKDSK output.
