I bought Mcafee AV, but when the "Updates Available" window 'pops' up, (annoying to start) and I click on 'Update', I get an error on Firefox, stating I need to 'cut and paste' URL into IE, (more annoying). I follow the instructions and then get a 'Pop-up OR Active X error' in IE
I have read to avoid Active X for security reasons, so I did figure out a work around to the first annoying McAfee paid subscription problem. BTW - Nice job Mcafee, screw your paying customers that use Mozilla !!!![]()
Now I get the same "you need Active X' message when I have tried to update another software version, then a newer version of Java, then blah, blah ....
Apparently Active X is one of the weakest leaks to have on your computer security wise, even by Microsoft's own admission, but some sites require it for downloads or other interactive processes ??!!

Please share your thoughts ...
Do without it?
Load it and let the worms begin?
Will it be safe in the future, since they continue intergrating it into processes ?

You must have other software issues. Once I installed the pluging for MaAfee, never a problem.
You may have over load your Firefox extensions.
I know there are over 1000 extension, but you don't need them all. -
Thanks for the responses. If I load Active X, all the above issues will go away.
But I guess my issue is the security breach to your computer posed when loading and using Active X. I have read quite a bit of information on the internet stating to avoid it unless you really have to use it.
So I have been avoiding it, but apparently you guys are not that concerned about running it? Maybe they have minimized the risks?
Thanks
BTW - Does anyone have the link for the Firefox Active X download? When I click on 'get Updates', Firefox responds that I already have all the current updates. -
