So I have adaware se on both of my machines. My current notebook is in my sig and my other is an old HP Pavillion from 2004. Now when I run adaware on my T60 I find about 25 items on average, and when I run adaware on my HP I often find nothing maybe 1 or 2 at most. I wonder why this is becuase I surf roughly the same sites on both computers, why does adaware on my new T60 find items where as my HP does not. One other note, I also have spy bot search and destroy on my HP and that hasn't found anything in months!

Yes, I do update both programs on both machines about once a week.

Do you have the same web browser and the same security setting on both computers?

"Do you have the same web browser"

I use IE on the T60 and firefox on the HP, would that make a difference

"and the same security setting on both computers?"

I just use the defaults what IE and firefox start out with is what I use

"do you connect to the internet differently on each comp?"

Nope, both from wirless same router

"and what ports have you got open on each computer as each port open = a new way to get infected!"

Not really sure what you mean?

    Is that IE6 or IE7?

I suggest that you try using Firefox on the T60 and maybe you will find that the Adaware count drops.

I found that IE7 was quite laggy compared to IE6 and Firefox. firefox is my primary browser and it's great so far. It's quick and reliable so far for me

the difference is definitely within the usage of FF

    You should use FF more.
One extension i highly recommend for FF is RIP.
RIP (Remove it Permanently) will allow you to permanently remove a ad, icon, frame within a website you frequently surf.

Every site has IFrames. IFrames are outsource adverts embedded on websites that rotate and/or flash various advertising.
Together with AdMuncher and RIP i never see a single advert here or any other site i visit. It saves on bandwidth too

Does it find real spywear or just 25 tracking cookies? Adaware always finds and wants to delete cookies from doubleclick and all those ad companies. I think FF has the same cookies just Adaware doesnt scan for them and only find IE cookies.
