wen i do the smart scan, at the "preparing GUID scanning" part it finishes the section... but then just stays there. its on like 30 minutes now, cuz the counter is still working. so i guess its not frozen. meanwhile its doing something cuz my CPU is at 96%, lol
wats the deal? any1 else with this?

I have no problems with Ad-Aware 2007 but then again I only used that program for my desktop which has XP. Maybe it might be a Vista issue?

Ad aware is not compatible with vista, and I am personally pissed off because its a good program and I have been waiting. If you are using vista then thats your problem and you could try running in compatibility mode but it didn't work well for me.

I run Ad-Aware SE on my Vista machine absolutely fine and it works a treat so I would recommend that as an alternative.

had a few problems with ad-aware on vista. it runs, scans and deletes fine. BUT it removed the "Clear recent items list" option from the recent item folder by deleting desktop.ini, i.e. turning it into a normal folder. Took me a while to find and fix it. (google!).

Not sure if ad-aware caused it but it appeared to mess up the game icons in the game explorer that I added.

Ad-aware is still my preferred software on XP, but for Vista I find windows defender to be adequate.

I really don't like Ad-aware 2007. All the past versions are perfect.

I have Ad-Aware SE on my one PC and Ad-Aware 2007 on the other. SE definitely seems to be faster from my initial assessment. The question would if 2007 is doing a better search and hence has the increased time involved?

I might upgrade to 2007 on my PC that is running SE and see if it finds anything when I am clear from SE. If so, that would be the end-all.
