I have a question. I discussed it in the Alienware forum and didn't find a resolution several weeks ago. Mods, my appologies if this is cross posting, feel free to take down the post if it is. I though maybe it's a Win7 Problem.
I installed a second HDD into my M17X. It works, but it causes some problems. Upon start up my computer will hit the "Starting Windows" screen and about 2 sec into it (colored balls moving) it will BSOD, and restart. Then go into the whole shabang ( launch system repair) about an error, which I've runn the tests and it doesn't come up with a solution. I have the latest drivers so that doesn't seem to be a problem. I'm running Win7 Ult and the HDD is a 640GB 5400RPM Western Digital. I don't have this problem if I restart, only if the computer has been shut down. Once in Windows, the drive works fine. I though maybe this is a windows problem that has been seen on other laptops so thats why I'm posting it here. Thanks for any advice. It's a problem I can live with, just a pain to deal with. Thanks again

Have you tried reinstalling windows? Sounds like an idiotic "solution" i know but its sometimes easier than to sit and mess with debugging.

Well I've done the respawn disc that came with the system, I was working the issue with another forum member who also had the issue and he tried an OS install which didn't work. He was working with Dell to get it resovled but hasn't been back in weeks. Tommorrow I'm going to reformat one of my spare drives and throw it in to see if I can go that route and how it may work. It's my one day off a week. I didn't know it others experienced it
Adding a second HDD, causes issues with startup
