    Hey guys,

So the other day I decided to remove a few programs from my computer using Revouninstaller. I deleted the registry entries as well as the left over folders and files Revouninstaller found.

When I went to delete everything that had been placed in the recycle bin I got a pop up for 1 or more files that needed administrator permission to be deleted.

I had the option of continue (with the administrator symbol), skip and cancel.

Being curious about what program had the particular files I chose cancel so I could see what was left over afterward in the recycle bin.

Once I hit cancel it still emptied the entire recycle bin.

At first I thought maybe hitting cancel restored the files that needed the admin permissions to be deleted but that doesn't make since. I would of figured it would of canceled the whole deletion process.

    My question is this:

If it needed me to give it adminstator permissions to delete those files why did it delete them anyway when I hit cancel?

Just trying to get some clearification on this topic. Also I am the administrator on my PC and I only have one profile on my OS which is Windows 7 64-Bit.

    JK of course.

In all seriousness; the registry items you deleted? No possible way to tell. Most likely will not be a problem if they were all from 3rd party apps you used Revouninstaller to clean up. If any of the apps were Windows essential... well you might want to restore from backup.

As for the "Cancel" it depends on how Revouninstaller works (I haven't used it in a long while). It could have either bypassed the Admin privilege, or restored the files. Only way to tell is manually search teh registry.

Well it's not the registry I'm worried about. Once you remove a program it searches for registry items and folders and files related to the program which you can then delete. I deleted the registry and folders and files with revo. Those folders and files go into the recycle bin once deleted by revo.

Then when I went to empty the recycle bin I got that message and hit cancel and the entire recycle bin was cleared out.

I just don't know if the files it needed admin permissions for were deleted or what......

Basically take revo out of the picture here. If you have a folder or file that needs admin permissions to delete while its in the recycle bin and you hit cancel and the recycle bin empties out completely, did those files still get deleted?

    That what my question is.

If you or no one else knows the answer that's fine.

I jut get a bit OCD when t comes to knowing how a computer, software or OS operates.

You guys can either close or delete this thread if you'd like.

    Again just being OCD.
