I'm curious id anybody else encountered these 2 problems:

    1) With Flash player installed in IE8 the actual process will sometimes not close - not sure why, I know it does't happen once flash player is unistalled with the unistal tool.
Reinstal Flash player and ti happens again...

    2) If the Adobe toolbars are active IE8 will crash - unnoticed by me - but it shows up in the error logs.

(The Toolbars come from Adobe Acrobat Professional 9 and the rest of the Web Premium Suite)

FF will close properly, even wit Flash player installed, but I noticed it doesn't close connections properly on Youtube if I change videos before they fully load and finish playing... - but that's no concern at the moment.

what is your CS version of the Web Premium Suite?
what version of windows are you running? service pack?
what does the error log report?

Note: Third-party antivirus/antispyware programs should be disabled when
installing Internet Explorer 8 or when installing adobe software. If they weren't you may have a corrupted installation of IE8 and/or addons. Uninstall/Reinstall with these programs disabled may be the solution.

also the adobe forums have tons of posts regarding similar issues. you should search there.

    CS4 on Vista Business SP2

    Ido have KIS 2010...

Error logs nothing (where the system logs are)
The error logs that cou can send of to MS just tell you "the usual nonsense" about how an addon is responsible wit no valuable information.

I had a similar the same problem in win vista home premium 32 bits running ie8 with certain web pages. Later I found that the active X add on causing the problem was Adobe PDF Link Helper version 9.1.0.163.

Tools/Compatibility View Settings. Either add the web page that has problems or check the "all websites" button. worked for me...

I am sure other toolbars or addons would could cause the same affect.

As far as the error logs go every adobe product creates one when their software has issues. unfortunately you have to search for it. Since its a toolbar error it may not have a generated error log. sorry.

IE8 and adobe do not play well together for some reason. it is hit & miss on all machines though. the main factors corrupt installs or software conflicts/compatibility issues.

what all adobe plugins do you have installed for IE8?

Well, adding webpages - for the nont cosing iexplorer process I'd need to add every flsh page...
The crashing IE8 I don't notice, but only see later on in the error logs.

What addons have I got from Adobe, let's see:
    Running:
    Shockwave Flash Object

    Deactivated:
    Contribute Toolbar
    ContributeBHO Class
(I think these 2 had another problem, but not sure...)

Deactivated and the IE8 crashes stopped:
    Adobe PDF
    Adobe PDF Link Helper
    Adobe PDF Conversion Toolbar Helper
    Smart Select Class

I also don't have my Flash player installed as it seems - I did unistal it using the unistaller you can downlod from Adobe, however, Youtube works fine... ???
I have Flash Installed in FF3.5.3 where it causes no problems :)

    Edit:
Seems we have the same odf link helper... (version number)

How do I unistal the toolbar?
At the moment its deactivated - and as a such doesn't cause any problems (at the moment).

The thing is - I rather like the ability to create pdfs... guess I can't though :(
