After watching some really interesting videos on youtube featuring Aftereffects, I'm like really interested in learning how to use the program. People animating lightsabers, making explosions, muzzle flares, blood effects, etc. My question is where should I begin? I want to begin learning the fundamentals, but I don't know where to start. Should I get a book? is there a website out there that can help me learn how to use the awesome effects? All help is appreciated.

I'm not sure how much money you want to spend but Lynda.com has some very good series of After Effects along with other CS programs. Check out the website some are free...
