I use Adobe Reader X and each time I open a PDF it resets the viewing preferences. I always hide the menu bar (F9), toolbar (F8), and navigation bar on the left when I view a PDF but they keep coming back when I open another PDF (or even the same 1 again). How can I make these prefs stick?

You need to open Adobe with Admin rights and then select your preferences. They will then save.

1) I have UAC turned off
2) My settings save, it's just that the toolbars keep showing when I hide them -
I have the same issue with V9, I was able to get rid of the toolbar by right clicking it and unchecking everything that was checked. I still can not seem to get rid of menu bar.. Hope this helps, Josea

Fred, With version 9 it works as one would suspect, open a pdf, right click and hide, it stays hidden. I just installed X on my other machine, will post results of tweaking it. I am glad you posted, I will keep 9 on my primary machine, I only use acrobat to view stuff and don't need the bars stealing space.
