Are you talking about OneCare? If so, I've been a beta tester of it since the initial release. Here's what i like about it:
    - Not resource heavy
    - Backup/Restore functionality
    - It stays out of your way while doing it's job.
    - Customer support is surprisingly good, for a Microsoft product.

There's a 90 day free trial available, so you can try it if you want.

No, AWC is a stand alone program for fixing and optimizing Windows.

I'm using the new Beta of the AWC 2.0. I've been using the program for about 6 months, and I like it. I run it every now and then, and it does a great job of finding and fixing errors. The new beta includes spyware detection and removal and MUCH more advanced problem solving.

Bottom line: there's no risk here, it's a great program!

I saw this product at BestBuy last night and was thinking of purchasing it. But I purchased Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 instead. If anyone tries this out let me know how it is.

This is not security software. If that was what you were looking for, then you were right to get something else. AWC is designed to detect and correct windows problems. The program is good for fixes on the registry, general optimization, SOME spyware, and temp file/privacy.

Advanced WindowsCare is an awesome program. When I first got my laptop I ran it and saw a 20% boost in responsiveness and speed. The best part is:
    - its free
    - it works well, completing numerous powerful tweaks
    - simple interface
    - no crap attached
