    Hiya All,

    This is my first post here... but this is an absolutely amazing forum...am a real beginner when it comes to IT and therefore your advice would be much appreciated.

    I've just bought a HP Pavilion dv8308tx and was just wanting to know what kind of software I should install.

    This is the software that has come with it but I wanted your recommendations on what software I should install with regards to antivirus and spyware.

    Microsoft® Windows® Media Player, Microsoft® Works, Microsoft® Money, Microsoft® Encarta (available for AU/NZ only), Muvee AutoProducer, Sonic Digital Media Plus, HP Quickplay 2.1, Symantec Norton AntiVirus - Virus Definition File Update, Symantec Norton Internet Security (60days live update - pre-install), HP Photosmart Premier, .Net Framework, Sun Java, Macromedia Flash

    Your help would be much appreciated.

    For antivirus and spyware have a look into Lavasoft. I use them and haven't had a virus/spyware problem with my notebook for all the 3.5 years I've had it. They've been in the business for a while and have a good rap from cnet and others.
