hi, i just did a clean install of premium on my laptop below. and i reinstaled ALL the old drivers. why is it slower? do i need to adjust any settings? also, what is faster for ready boost, a 512 mb SD card, or a 1gb (not ready boost certified, but works) flash drive.

    thanks

clean up ur start up processes, and leave vista for a day or 2, vista needs to "learn" its environment

    cheers ...

Have you tried going to the perfomance settings and turn off some off the slow effects i.e "sliding combo boxes" etc

If you just re-installed Vista, it might still be indexing your HD for the first few days which will cause slowdown. If you notice lots of HD activity when your not doing anything, then that's your problem :)

Disable in service.msc or msconfig "Services" tab:

    Superfetch
Indexing (Might have to go to Control Panel)
    TurboMem
    NetBIOS
    Parential Controls
UAC (If you like super security leave it alone.)
Security Center (Same as UAC, you like leave it.)

The first two are massive services that lag the operating out of operating system.

if you use msconfig you do know you leave you laptop in daignostic mode

if you want remove start from startup do it via regedit run key

or the start up folder or services
