I don't understand why that WISEA** locked the thread. Anyhow...

If I install the OEM disc (which i bought from computer store) on this macbook, will I be able to buy a new license for it so I get to activate it? We can buy licenses online, right?

or is it because its 'oem' i can't use the disc it self?

Why don't you buy a new OEM disc, it might fall to be cheaper than buying a new license online.

what do you expect me to say if the mod didn't clearify anything? and just locked the topic? he thinks i'm able to read his mind? didn't he know that locking without explaining will only bring more questions?

i still have no idea what the problem is. and you are not helping either.

OK THIS IS WHAT I WAS ASKING... If I INSTALL NOW, and BUY OEM DISC LATER... can i just enter the key and activate it? OR ONCE I INSTALL I CAN"T ENTER THE NEW KEY FROM THE NEW DISC?

I guess you can. There is no hard-coded lock and all, its just against the EULA.

You should be able to put they key in from the new disc and it works no problems. I think the reason your original topic was closed was because it was talking about transferring the OEM version from one comp to another which isn't allowed so he closed it.

99% of the time, the old key is accepted during setup, but doesn't activate the OS, for which you'll have to activate by phone. If you're lucky, it'll even activate the OS online, and a phone call won't be required.
But you'll break the dam EULA.

Banning someone for a personal reason would be a violation of his powers.

I can't speak on the OEM version as I haven't ran it long enough to read the EULA to see how much it is changed from the retail EULA... I usually format off to the Retail version of Vista as soon as I get the machine in.

With that said... The retail version of Vista allows 30 days to "try" the OS in a licensed state before you put a key in. If that right is extended to the OEM version then you are good, but I can't confirm this.

Since you are already running the OEM version I recommend you read the license agreement directly and get the answer directly.

To read your EULA: Press Windows Key + E -> Press Alt -> Choose Help -> Choose About Windows -> Click "Micrsoft Software License Terms"

If you're a student, why not use Windows Server 2008? It's free for students and can be tweaked to look and run just like Vista.

true, but using foul language, and attempting to get around the dirty-words-nanny filter is an objective basis on which to impose punitive measures against someone, so there'd be no issue of banning for a personal reason (although a wise mod who's been personally insulted in a post would ask another mod to review the post and take the proper action in order to avoid even the appearance of impropriety).
