Hey i remember a while ago people were having problems with the new aim 6.5 and vista, it was messing with their internet connection and telling them they were offline whey they really weren't. I was just wondering if anybody has tried the new 6.5.12.1 update version yet, and does it fix this issue. It keeps poping up as an update. I searched Google for it but i cant seem to find an answer. And if it does work do you have uac on or off, because i read that most people who had the issue had uac off. Please don't recommend me other programs, because I've use them and i like aim the best.
thanks

i use the 6.8 beta (i think its .8, though i'm not sure) and i use a tiny program called AIM AD HACK, which basically installs aim for you, then removes a boatload of the junk that aim installs along with it. and i've been using ad hack for about 3 years now. www.aimadhack.net

Edit: i just installed it on my desktop. seem to be pretty good. thanks for the program. +rep -

yeah that's the main reason I run ad hack
glad to have helped.

Yeah, I remember this problem. It had to do with AIM messing with the Network Global ID number.
Short story was turn ON UAC when you install the program.
If you want the long story, PM me. -
That issue was a huge pain...I reversed it and then downloaded an old version. However, after a week or two with the old version it started asking me to update to aim 6.5 again and would not stop. Since then I've deleted aim and installed trillian. I will never use AIM again.
