I got my new computer from Dell. I have checked yahoo answers and googled and done everything people suggested. When i sign on aim, it would be fine but once i try to send a message, it would freeze and then Aim would close the program.

I had my neighbor who is good with computers and he came over and he still could not find out the problem and he downloaded a bunch of different versions to make it work.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I downloaded the latest version of AIM and it still does this. I have installed and uninstalled about 30 times the past month or so and it still is like this.

Sound like AIM doesn't support the latest version of Windows.
My recommendation in your particular case is too try a an alternative IM program that uses AIM.
    Try Trillian.

Trillian is ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo and more into 1 programs. The cool things with it, is that if you have friends with any Instant messaging service, you can chat perfectly with them, and even send/receive files.
Trillian is free (no ads), and the the program interface can be customized. The programs comes with 2 skins to choose from. One glossy Vista-ish style, while the other is more simple one.

Give it a spin: Trillian - IM, Astra, Windows Live, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, MySpace, AIM, Email, and more!

Is there a reason it does not support it? I downloaded every AIM Version there is and still have this problem. I prefer using AIM then using those other programs.

I tried AIM found here (installed without the tool bar and other crap):
Instant Messenger ? AIM ? Instant Message Your AIM and Facebook Chat Buddies for Free
And it runs perfectly fine here, with complete Win7 support.

    Try this:
    - Uninstall AIM
    - Uninstall ALL toolbars and alike from your system, no mater what they are.
    - Ensure that Windows 7 is FULLY updated
    - Ensure that Java plug-in for Internet Explorer is the latest version.
    - Ensure that Flash plug-in for IE is the latest version as well.
    - Use CCleaner (free), and clean up your registry
    - Clean your Temp directory ( C:\Users\<ACCOUNT NAME>\AppData\Local\Temp) [note: AppData is a hidden folder]
    - Delete the following folder: C:\Users\<ACCOUNT NAME>\AppData\Local\AIM
    - Delete the following folder: C:\Users\<ACCOUNT NAME>\AppData\Local\AOL
    - Download AIM from the link above.
    - Install it without any tool-bars or anything like that. JUST AIM!

    Additional information:
    - It could be Windows firewall blocking AIM and that makes AIM crash.
    - It could be your anti-virus or spyware removal software which corrupts AIM. I suggest getting Windows Security Essential (free, 64-bit. fast, easy to use, amazing interface, the best free solution out there, doesn't slow down your computer and does remove spyware too at the same time.
    - Ensure that all that startup with Windows are: Dell touchpad, Dell Control Point, anti-virus. Anything else has to be removed or disabled. You can do both with CCleaner (Tools > Startup).
