hi, I'm a first time poster, and sort of a newbie,
I have a Tecra M5 computer, I have Autocad LT 2004 installed, and when I Alt+tab to other programs I get a BSOD (randomly)sometimes I also get it tranfering from firefox,
My theory is the following: I think it could be a Driver issue, so is there a way I can quickly check if I have the latest drivers?
I think there are many sites that do it for "free" but in the end they ether scam you or infect you I don't trust those sites, (but I do trust NBR)
I'd really appreciate any help.

What is the STOP code shown in the BSOD..??
-
I don't know, it only shows the BSOD like 2 seconds or less, could someone tell me how to read error log, or where I could see this information?
Thanks. -

right click on the COMPUTER icon on the desktop then click on properties
untick the box that says : automatic restart , then advanced system settings , then see the photo below
EDIT : THIS IS FOR VISTA : BUT XP SHOULD HAVE SOMETHING SIMILAR
-
(Which OS?)
First of all, right-click on my computer > properties > advanced > startup and recovery > system failure.
What is shown in the drop-down box belowe 'Write Debugging Info'.
And uncheck automatically restart.
I am more used to WinDBG, but you can go into control panel > administrative tools > computer management > event viewer > windows logs > system, and then check out for errors. (I guess thats the way its done without windbg) -
this is the information from the error report.
Error code 1000007f, parameter1 00000008, parameter2 80042000, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 00000000.
following to see microsoft webpage I found this information related to this error:
Details
Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 1003
Source: System Error
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: ER_KRNLCRASH_LOG
Message: Error code %1, parameter1 %2, parameter2 %3, parameter3 %4, parameter4 %5.
Explanation
A blue screen (Stop error) was reported. The message contains details about the error. A matching event with Event ID 1001 might also appear in the event log. This matching event displays information about the specific error that occurred.
User Action
No user action is required.(so there is nothing I can do
once I loged in as the administrator (for securety I have the user level and only use administrator acount for modifications) I got an error report for microsoft, once I sent the report the page said that the problem was a driver/device problem. so what ca I do? I have installed the windows update, but I don't think it downloads all of the drivers.
Well here is what I got, Thanks for all the help. -
Apparently I solved the problem by updating winXP SP2, to SP3, and an additional windows update, I haven't had this problem again (almost 3 days now) I've tried to replicate the conditions but still I haven't had any problems.
so I think it's very likely that the problem was the driver and once I updated may have updated the driver.
Thanks for the help.
I hope no one else has this problem since it pretty disturbing.
