I have heard that one can get animated wallpapers for Vista. How can i accomplish this?

I think you would be required to install the Ultimate version of Vista. Correct me, if I'm mistaken.
-
Yes, i believe so too.
-
Yes, you need Ultimate for this. Try googling for Dreamscene for more on this feature
-
I thought that XP supported animated GIF wallpapers, doesn't Vista support the same?
-
I think it is just a new feature for Windows Ultimate called DreamScene. They are trying to up the interests for Vista Ultimate by including special features not found in the other versions.

If you have Vista Ultimate, you can find more animated pictures here:

You can also download some through Microsoft. -
You can also create your own.. I believe it uses mpeg files. It's pretty neat but hopefully you have a fast processor.

It's neat, but you get dizzy after a short while (at least for me).
XP does, but it took 57% of my C2D CPU. In vista, they tried to shift the load towards the GPU instead of the CPU -
It uses very little cpu processing power. 1 or 2 percent, i think. it's rendered by the graphics card, so it shouldnt produce any lag
