I have a tascam us 122 and use it for recording and MIDI but when i got my laptop a few months back there no vista driver was available but i found out that it could start by using the XP driver in compatibility mode. Since then it has worked for midi but not recording and causes the program to freeze and die even when its not selected as the sound card. The computer wont shut down when its plugged in either.

The vista driver now has finally come out and after installing it the same problem occurs. I looked in the registry and there are loads of entries which i attempted to delete which ended up with quite a few saying i did'nt have enough priviliges even though im administrater and caused my computer to mess up.

How can i fix this? do i somehow delete everything of it off my system and if so how?

    try this:

in CONTROL PANEL > PROGRAMS, remove any software associated with the device

go into device manager and UNINSTALL the device.

    shut down windows

    physically remove the device

Start windows. Allow it to load all the way.

    Install the new drivers

    Shut down the system,

    Reinstall the device

    Start windows

    start windows.
