    Just got finished with a fresh install of Vista 64 Ult and the Security Center Notification does not seem to register that I have opted out of using this 'feature'.

    I used the steps here:
    1. Double click on the Armour icon in your system panel to go into Security Center;
    2. On the left, click on 'Change the way Security Center Alerts me'; and
    3. Choose to either have the icon remain and get rid of the balloon alerts or to remove the icon and not be alerted.

    For some reason, when I click on the bottom option, the window goes away but it doesnt seem to change anything. Any ideas what is going wrong?

    Edit: I know the title is misspelled, but I can't change it :(

    Well, I know you can go and set that you will monitor your own security programs when it wants you to choose one. But it shouldn't notify you unless something is wrong (i.e. you don't have any anti-virus software installed).

    There is a bit of spyware around that pops up fake alerts that look exactly like the real ones from Vista

    If you are sure you have turned off the alerts and you still get a pop up then check for spyware. The last one I found was a route kit so was pretty difficult to pull off (malwarebytes did it in the end).

    in the security center, do you have something that's red? if so, click on it and change it so that it gets yellow (by saing "yes i have an own virescanner that i control my own" or so, depending on what security part), or, even better: fix it. namely install the required software so that everything's green :)
