Hey everyone. This is mainly addressing to people who have Vista installed. Ok I was pretty happy when I found how to turn off the stupid User Account Control (which is the thing that keeps popping up when you do ANYTHING). The screen would usually go dark in the background and then a message prompts up asking you if it is OK to continue. Anyway, I turn that stupid thing off and now there is this security alert thing always at the bottom of the screen. Is there a way to turn that off so it doesn't keep reminidng me that I turned the User Account Control off?

services -> security center - > disable it

i would not recommend it, since the pop up happens at startup only

    cheers ...

    Hi there

I have the answer! All you have to do is right click anywhere on the taskbar (black "toolbar" at the bottom of the screen) and click on: "properties". Once you have done this, click on the tab: "Notification Area", and then click on "customise". Once you have done this, scroll down until you get to "Windows Security Alerts" and then click on "hide when in active" and then go to the drop-down menu and click "hide", once you have done that click: ok;apply;ok.

Once you have done that it will get rid of the annoying security alert, HOWEVER, this may also stop windows defender etc from alerting you.

Hope this info was useful, if you have any more questions please email me at:

An old thread, but to answer the OP...

Start>type "security center" and click enter
On the left panel, click "Change the way Security Center alerts me"
    Pick your favorite option.

    Home Premium.

I have "Don't notify me and don't display the icon (not recommended)" selected and security center never notifies me of anything and the icon never appears.

I have Vista business, which has the same menu, I put the mouse on that option and clicked, thenI got out and called one of the features where the UAC appears, and it did again.

You should never turn off UAC, if you run a lot of crappy programs/games that require admin rights you should set UAC to "quiet" mode rather than disabling one of the most important security features. Easiest way to put UAC to quiet mode is to use TweakUAC.

With SP1, I dont know why you would get much UAC noise unless you were doing something pretty massively wrong.

Ask yourself this... WHY do you need admin access to things so much?
I have more reasons to need admin acces than most people, and I am a lowly USER on every machine I own until I need to elevate. That's right..I type in full credentials for EVERY admin access... and I don't do it much even with all my needs and duties.

Time to figure out why you "need" adin so badly... might want to get yourself some anti-malware tools... and I mean the ones better than a little antivirus.
