Hi I have a new lappy coming in (that has the free upgrade option) and I was gonna just reformat and install W7 RC on it. When I get the upgrade option, do I have to reinstall vista then upgrade or can I just go straight from the RC to the retail version?

It depends on whether you want a clean installation or not. If you want a clean installation, so format everything and then upgrade to W7. Otherwise, you just upgrade on you currently-used Vista.
