Sorry about this....
So I got the wireless issue taken care of on the main desktop pc at my house. Last night after all that was done and I had updated everything I then proceeded to do a clean/fresh install of Windows 7 on my mom's HP Laptop....a dv5t.
Luckly there were no issues with the wireless side of things. It has an Intel Wifi 5100 AGN which is a pretty good adapter by all accounts and it worked without any issue. I went ahead though and downloaded the latest driver for it from Intel's website though to be sure.
I've pretty much got everything up and running save for these 2 issues. When I go to "Device and Printers" there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation sign inside of it. I right clicked and selected, "troubleshoot" hoping it would be something simple to solve. However Windows was unable to deal with it. Here's what happened below...
It says it's looking for problems and the first thing that pops up is:
1) The driver for Keyboard Filter is NOT installed. Install the latest driver for the device.
I hit "apply this fix" at the bottom. It then said, "Searching for driver" for a while but ultimately nothing was installed and I got no response.
Then a 2nd issue came up.
2) The driver for Unknown Device is NOT installed. Install latest driver for the device.
Again I hit "apply this fix" at the bottom. Waited while it said, "searching for driver" and then nothing happened.
After this it said "Troubleshooting has completed". Yet nothing had been solved...lol.
I looked the details and summary and this what Windows had in table format:
Issue Found:
1) Keyboard Filter doesn't have a driver: Not Fixed
* Apply solution for driver problem -----> Completed
* Install a driver for this device ---> Completed
2) Unknown Device doesn't have a driver: Not Fixed
* Apply solution for driver problem -----> Completed
* Install a driver for this device ---> Completed
3) Problem with PnP devices detected
There was nothing underneath that in the Summary/Details page...
The last thing is the device ids I saw below...hopefully this will be helpful to solving the issue.
Keyboard Filter:
Device ID: {A87C2E0F-9A46-46B8-8EC4-E33355FBE1F7}\KEYBOARDFILTER\5&80AF6BF&0&01
Error Code: 0
Unknown Device:
Device ID: ACPI\HPQ0004\2&DABA3FF&1
Error Code: 28
Any help would be greatly appreciated....

go to http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
find your model
check for Windows 7 drivers
If your laptop can't find some of your hardware, download them from HP. -
I believe that both of your issues have to do with the QLB (Button) drivers. Check that you have installed the latest versions from HP support.
-
I'll try that really quick...let you know what happens...

The driver on HPs website is an older one....
I already downloaded the Quick Launch driver in the dvt driver thread in the HP section....
So I don't think it's that.... -
Not 100% sure but this might help...
I believe the "Unknown Device" is the HP Protect Smart device for protecting your hard drive. At least that was the case when I clean installed Windows Vista on a DV4t a while back. I'm pretty sure 7 will have problems finding a generic driver for that device because I've never seen it implemented anywhere else besides in HP laptops... -
^^^It was...thanks for the answer!

I would still try the driver recommended by HP. What have you got to lose?
I know for a fact that the some of the drivers from the same type of thread for the DV67XX thread don't work as they should on my laptop, I tried and had to revert to the driver on the support page. Especially the Nvidia Graphics driver, where my notebook fan almost never shuts off with the latest driver but works correctly with the older driver. -

There are many ways to do this. Possibly the easiest is to Left click on the W7 orb at the bottom left, enter Programs and Features in the 'Start programs and files' search box at the bottom and then click on the Programs and Features icon in the resulting list.
Look for the entry, HP Quick Launch Buttons... Double click on the entry and an Install ShieldWizard will display asking if you want to remove the selected application. Click yes and wait for it to complete. Reboot your computer when finished before you install the next driver.
Another Windows 7 Driver Question....
