    Hi guys.

I'm not really good in tech trouble shooting so please help me out. I have an Asus n80 and all of a sudden I got this corrupt file balloon warnings popping out. I tried to do the chkdsk at reboot but it doesn't perform when I restart the laptop.

My OS is a 62 bit Vista Home Premium and I have a preinstalled Trend Micro Antivirus. Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

Start > Computer > right-click the C drive > Properties > Tools tab > Error checking: Check Now > Check both boxes and click Start. Then you can restart your system and it should run.

btw, your OS is not 62-bit. ;)

Have you tried start > run > cmd> chkdsk /f. Doing this on an active partition will cause windows to tell you it cannot lock the drive (as it is in use) and ask you if you want to schedule a checkdisk run at the next restart you select "y" and then restart. See if that works.

ok, I guess your model is special then. ;)
Everyone else is stuck with either 32- or 64-bit.

Anyway, if you have a Windows DVD or restore disc, then try booting from it, it may have a recovery tool which may let you run chkdsk from the DVD. I'm not sure though.

Boot from the DVD or restore disc and then see if you can download and run the hdd SMART diagnostic you should find on the website of your hdd's manufacturer. It's possible that your hdd is going bad and eating itself up.
