What do people think is the best anti-virus / internet security package available?
I currently use Norton Internet Security 2004, which seems to work well. There are regular updates to the definitions etc. and it appears to run ok in the background without using up too much resources.
I have heard though that some solutions offer better value and security. I've had Trend Micro's PC-Cillin 2002 in the past, which was also good.
What do people think? Go for a complete internet security package with one product, or combine different anti-virus and firewall programs?

Personally I use Avast Anti-Virus and ZoneAlarm firewall. Both are free for personal use and work well.

Kaspersky Labs has consistently come out at the very top in virus recognition comparison tests (99% vs as low as 70-80% for others). It also has an amazing update cycle of multiple daily definitions 24/7. Just replaced NAV2004 with it and will definitely purchase after the 30 day trial. Combined with freeware Zone Alarm, Microsoft Antispyware beta, Spyware Blaster freeware and WinPatrol freeware and your pretty well state-of-art protected.

If you want to protect yourself from Spyware, use an internet browser that Internet Explorer. Most of the stuff is written for it. I personally use Mozilla, but there are others. Also get your mail on Yahoo, MSN, etc. That way if you do get a virus, it is on their computer and not yours. Also if you change ISPs, your email will remain the same.

I've tried Mozilla, but just doesn't feel right. It also doesn't allow me to access some of my online banking stuff as it blocks out Active X functions.
I've used Zone Alarm Free version as well, but I guess some of these freeware programs limits your usage and functional capabilities? -
There are a few sites Mozilla doesn't work with. They just came out with an update, maybe you want to try that? Or you could use another browser to hit your banking site, like the free version of Opera. I only use ZoneAlarm to block unwanted stuff from coming and going. For that it works fine.
