Hey all...the Norton trial subscription on my Presario V3000z expired and I really don't know if I should renew it or just try to get some other AV software...

What do you guys think? I tried CA EZ antivirus on my old lappy and it worked like a charm (do they still offer that year for free?) but I'm wondering if there's anythign new that I should be aware of...

    Thanks for the help!

You can take a look at Avast, I've used it recently and it is the least troublesome AV I've seen in awhile, although you should still turn off the annoying sound bytes.

Get ZA 7 Pro. It includes the ZA firewall and the kaspersky anti-virus

I would get free version of AVG. It works pretty good...plus it is free! :D

I used Norton and Mcaffee. I found them both tiresome sometimes, but both worked well. AVG was okay I guess. Tons of problems with it finding false viruses and the like though, but it has a much smaller footprint on your system.

    I use Trend Micro Pc-Cillin 2k7

Ive tried many Firewall/Internet Security Softwares and found this one to be very effective/efficient and least annoying.

I would say do what Kdawgca said and take a look at AV-Comparatives, and maybe take a look at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=42070 where a lot of people here commented on what they had. Personally if you want to pay for one I would say Avira, I had Kaspersky but didn't like it very much. So I went Avira, and am very satisfied. Think I paid like $20 or so. And also use Avira Free for the laptop.

The two I use are AVG free, and Spyware Terminator. Yes my lappy came with Norton for 6mos., just too bloated and slow.

Norton ties up too many reources, I've been using AVG, along with Spybot & Ad-Aware.
