I'm on a friends pc and she has Symantec that hasnt been doing much for her, so I got her to download Avast! Since they both do the same task, would she lose anything if she uninstalls Symantec? I'm not wrong in thinking Avast is better, am I? Just wanting to check so she doesnt eat me if something happens.^^

Yeah Avast is better than Norton. There should be no problems switching out the too.

I wouldn't say that Avast is better than Norton. If you compare antivirus detection rates, you will find that NAV is the clear winner.

The reason many people hate NAV is that is uses a whole lot of system resources - the outcome is a very slow pc.

To answer your question Cassandra, you will not lose anything when you uninstall Norton and making the switch shouln't be a problem. If for some reason your friend is not satisfied with Avast, there are several other antivirus alternatives.
