I was a little shocked initially when I got my i6k and found McAffee Antivirus junkware on my Laptop. I am a Norton fan forever. Furthermore, I noticed that the laptop was running so much slower compared to the DV1000 which I had stripped all of the junkware away. I am in the process of stripping all of that on my current laptop.

I just removed McAffee Suite and installed Norton Antivirus alone. An amazing improvement in performance with just that. I have also switched to the Windows firewall and Zone Alarm Firewall. Has anyone noticed slowdown with McAffee? It stunningly slows the computer to a crawl. I couldn't stand it any longer.

I've been using macfee a long time and like it a lot. I've never had a virus get past it and its always run smoothly without issue. As far as performance my computer is so fast I never notice anything but....when I benchmark my computer I've done it with macafee on and off and there is very little difference which leads me to think its not that much of a resource hog. A couple years ago I had tried Norton and didn't like it but thats just me. When friends ask me what to do I recommend both but tell them which I use myself. They are the leaders in their industry and competitive.

I cannot explain it but I have had no problems after I uninstalled it. It may have been some subtle settings that I was not aware. I have no familiarity with the software and have had no problems since getting rid of the software (Free 90 Day trial packaged with Dell).
