If you're happy with XP, it'd probably be cheaper to increase your memory.

Awhile back, there was a product called iRAM that had hardware implementation similar to the idea of ReadyBoost. Basically, it's powered RAM, so it'll cost you around $300 (that's an estimate) for the unit and two sticks of 1GB DDR2. Anyway, it's really fast, much faster than the flash implementation of ReadyBoost. If you put your page file on that, I'd imagine you would notice an increase your performance should your applications demand frequent paging despite 2GB of installed system RAM.

heh..if i was going to spend 300+ i would just buy vista :p. I plan on getting 2gb of RAM this week, just would like to have my XP running the best that it can. With 2gb how large should my pagefile be? And with 1gb?

I wouldn't have it any bigger than 1GB fixed size.
