    1) I don't like the idea of having so many subscriptions (I already have a VPN subsciption, MS Office 2013, a few AVs, etc.) Is there a way to buy a full fledged non subscription Adobe Photoshop or have they totally switched to this subscription based thing?

    2) Is there any place to legally buy a genuine Photoshop CS 6 Key?

    3) How is Photoshop CC any better than Photoshop 6?

I feel your pain as I have the same subscriptions as you do. I bought the CS6 Creative Suite just before CC showed up and I dread the day when I may have to move on from that. Photoshop is only available via subscription now.

I don't think there is much worthwhile difference between CC and CS6 for my uses (editing digital images and film scans). Anecdotally, CC should make better use of a multi-cored processor, but they said that for CS6 too (they lied). There is serious price gouging on eBay for CS6 licenses, likely because you're not alone in thinking that the subscription pricing is exorbitant. I only upgraded from CS3 because it wouldn't run anymore.

I think we're screwed. I looked for Photoshop alternatives but, sadly, things are pretty thin on that front. I wish I could offer you a solution, but, thus far, I haven't found any. I'm interested if anyone else has some ideas.

Oh darn, I was expecting that but just wanted to make sure there is no way around this. It's pretty darn expensive as well man! $19 USD per month!! not per annum but per month! I mean if one isn't really using it to make money (like a professional photographer) it isn't worth it.

I don't even know how to use Photoshop just wanted to buy it to do some training and learn about it......sigh......

Yeah, I hear ya. I might have to resort to touching-up negatives with a pencil the way things are going. :(

I have Photoshop CS5 but haven't installed or Activated it online cause I don't have to use it currently but keeping it around just in case. This is the problem with Adobe they made a very good suite and now want Subscription and causing users to drop back to the older CS suites or single program. This mistake will cost Adobe down the line not right now but when a competitor comes along they will regret it or worse no one uses their programs anymore and keep using their older version instead like me. I get CS6 but then again I don't have a need as it is cost prohibited as well if you don't use it enough to make back what you paid for it.

Creative cloud is priced to make you get the full suite rather than one application.

If you have a CS 4 or 5 key you can get the full suite for $30 month for a one year commitment.

Like I paid for a subscription for Office 2013 365, although I'm not thrillsed about it, it'ws not that bad you know.....9 USD per month and allows you to install it on 5 computers + 5 mobile devices + 1TB free OneDrive space for every user + 60 mins free skype calls monthly......really not bad.....

but Adobe charges an arm and a leg...19 USD per month!! that's like my internet bill man!

Yes I saw that but isn't that Photoshop stripped out of many features? Ususally if I buy a software I opt for the one with all the features? But if you're saying that it's the same Photoshop just without Illustrator then it's good I guess. Still will never buy a Photoshop subscription though. Unless one uses Photoshop on a regular basis (let's say a photographer) and makes money out of it, this is a useless subscription.

What about the casual users like me who barely ever use it just want to have it to learn how to use it with time for when I need it, there is no option for those.

Yes, it's the full featured Photoshop. The stripped down Photoshop you're thinking of is Photoshop Elements.

For reference, Photoshop CS6 costs $700 for a full retail license (though that can be discounted down to $600). That's equivalent to 5 years of Photoshop CC subscription. The extended version costs even more at $1000. If you cannot justify $10 a month for Photoshop CC, then you can't really justify purchasing any version Photoshop at all.

There has never been an affordable option when it comes to Photoshop or any other Adobe CS product. The exception is if you're a student or teacher and can get an eduction license, and even then it's $200-300. Otherwise take a good hard look at Photoshop Elements. It's mostly missing some of the more specialist stuff that you probably won't end up using anyways, and it's under $100:

I don't think there will be a good competitor in years. I'm using CS6 and it#s fine for me. I don't miss any features.

Wait til you get a high-DPI screen (menu scaling is only supported in CC onward)...

Yep, and like I said it costs $700. You can find it cheaper on other websites too, like here. At these prices I'd definitely consider $10/month more affordable, especially since you'll get regular software updates as part of the deal. Lightroom is also a fairly useful program if do a lot of Photography.

As alexhawker is alluding to, the main advantage of CC over CS6 is future compatibility. CC will always be kept up to date with the latest changes in hardware and OS, whereas eventually CS6 will eventually become obsolete.

If you're dead set on using Photoshop then you're going to have to pay the price one way or another. Otherwise there's some ok alternatives out there:

GIMP is free and decently good. It's not nearly as full featured as PS and it's slow as molasses, but it gets the job done for basic adjustments and smaller edits for when you don't need RAW support. It's useful enough that I generally install it on all machines that I use regularly.

PS Elements is a much cheaper alternative and has most of the features. You can add additional functionality by buying Elements+. It's built on a similar interface to the full PS.

Paintshop Pro is one I've heard used a lot too. Although I think the general consensus is that Elements is a better choice.

Affinity Photo is a newcomer that's trying to take on Photoshop. Looks interesting, but may take a while to get Windows support.
