    Doesn't matter really. Even x86 applications run a little bit faster in x64 :). Let's share Crysis. It's x64! :D

32 bit apps are usually just a little bit slower on a 64 bit machine but not a noticeable amount unless it's heavy number crunching, in which case a 64 bit app will quite often kill a 32 bit app. Plus there are times when 64 bit is slower than 32 (but that's likely credited to bad coding, see Crysis 32vs64 bit). Just google comparisons between 32 and 64 bit apps to get a general idea of how it goes.

To OP: almost all 32 bit apps now are able to run on 64 bit machines thanks to MS. However, if there is a 64 bit version you should use it as it will generally be faster.

Nice. I thought 32 bit versions didn't run in 64 bits OS.

32 bit drivers don't work on 64 bit machines but 32 bit programs work just fine on a 64 bit operating system.

as to the original question any good apps, i use 3d studio max and cad, but thats pretty much it

notyou I beg to differ. I saw tests clearly showing how x86 applications run faster in x64 compared to x86. A little tiny bit, but whatever...
