Hi everyone. I have an iPod touch, and would like to know if there is any decent software out there, other than iTunes, that I can use with my iTouch. For instance: software that can transfer songs to and from the iPod. I should mention that I do not wish to jailbreak the iPod, so said software should be able to work with an unjailbroken iPod. Thanks for any suggestions in advance!!!

Songbird. its based on the firefox engine, works like a media player plus browser, and all you need to use it with your ipod is a simple addon/extension. and its got tons of those, is stable and works awesome.

Why no Jailbreak???

I think most other programs just work with older iPods or maybe even current nano/classic... I don't think there's much that will work with the iPod Touch yet... but I could be wrong... you can try.

mediamonkey works for me, ive been using it for about 6 months with no issues. Works with the ipod as soon as installed, no add ons needed

i like the addon idea. i can pick and choose what i want, and lose the rest, by simply not installing it.

I use Winamp.

iTunes is the best one, why aren't you using it? It surpasses all other programs!

I thought it was great when they included safari in the past, and it installed without you knowing it. -

I highly recommend iTunes to anyone foolish enough to install it. It helps my side business: I make money removing iTunes and cleaning up after it...

Foobar2000 and the foo_dop plugin work well also.

iTunes is the main reason why I will never buy another iPod. It is garbage laced with Apple marketing BS. I only tolerate it on my Mac.

Thanks for the help everybody! I'm a bit late posting back, but it's good that I didn't visit earlier. I was expecting to get hated on because I didn't want to use iTunes. But since I see that many of you don't like iTunes, I will say the same. I agree that it is bloatware and does a fantastic job of eating up system resources. It's slow, too (I have a C2D 2.0GHz).
The reason why I chose not to jailbreak it is because I'm satisfied with how the iPod works now. It does everything I want it to. But perhaps someone could list some benefits in jailbreaking an iPod. I'm still open to being persuaded into jailbreaking it ;-).
Maybe I will consider Songbird when they fix the bug that MidnightSun was talking about. Thanks for the warning! You guys have been more than helpful! I will go try out those apps now. -
Jailbreaking ipod touch=3rd party apps

Doesn't Rockbox work on iPods now? If so I highly recommend it.

Itunes lol.
It Installs apple updater, quicktime, bonjour service, ipod service, itunes service and quicktime service.
All for one program :| -
iTunes = Crappy Bloatware + other Bundled Crappy Bloatware. regardless of what program you use INSTEAD of iTunes, its a good choice so long as you are not using iTunes.
