Any idea why it would take a long time for the right click menu to appear for a drives in My Computer (WinXP)?

Messing around with my old PC and this has always bugged me. When I right click a drive it takes between 10-20 seconds for the right click menu to appear - this doesn't happen with any other right click actions on the PC, just the drives themselves. It only happens the first time I do it for that particular boot up (immediately afterwards it functions normally again, until I reboot). Any idea why this might be happening? It's always done this, ever since it was first assembled in 2003.

I remember reading something about broken network or share shortcuts on XP causing slowdowns, you might look into that.
