    ...or hybernation?

Some apps like Windows Defender offer options like running a scan at 2AM every night. Why would this be an option unless a computer is running all night long?

I'm looking for something that could start up my notebook, run a program, then shut down or go back to stanby at a specific time or after the task is completed. Keeping my notebook on 24/7 is not a viable option for me.

    Thanks

autotask, powerclik ... can offer support to wake the machine up during hibernation/standby to start a scheduled task and then back to either hibernation/standby

vista offers a new and improved task scheduler that incorporates wake.up call for scheduled tasks during hibernation/standy

    cheers ...

Thanks ghn...so basically there's no way to do it with the Windows scheduler. I see there's an option to "wake the computer" but nothing about shutting it down after the task is completed.

    I'll give these 2 programs a looksie...

not unless u use vista - it is a bummer, but i guess that is one of the selling point of vista, no need for so many 3rd party apps

    cheers ...
