I am trying to update my old acer 7720 to the latest version of w10. I am on 1803 now. I have 1903 downloaded but its hanging at about 60 percent. Any ideas on how to get this done. The computer is nice and snappy on 1803 so I cannot see why it won't run on the new versions. TIA!

Try the media creation tool and download and install the latest version. It will probably be faster than incremental updates.

Ok, I will try that if it don't work this time. I looked at the specs and this ole beast still got it under the hood to run. I ran the "help tool" and it found a few errors so it's fixing it. I will keep you updated on the progress.

I tried the installation site, I never tried the media creation tool, I am thinking now I may just re install windows itself. I need to get this done somehow.

Awesome! So using the USB Installer for Windows 10 to force a manual upgrade is what fixed it?

Yes. Forced everything and it's like a new machine. It runs really good. Suprising. I was thinking since the macbook was so slow and laggy, this would be too. NOT the case. It skips along quite nicely. The only issue is those two drivers. I don't really care about that since the firewire and all other ports work great.

Awesome! If you had a good internet connection I would be able to fix those drivers for you but man the lag because of your connection was killing me. Let me know when you have better speed and I can easily fix those missing drivers for you. I know it doesn't matter but you know, OCD.

As I mentioned in other posting even my old Dell 1525 with upgrade t8100 and 4gb ram works with Windows 10x64 pro so this can be done but sadly my M1730 and older Dell can't handle Windows 10 only Window 7x64 pro so there comes a limit to how far back you go in laptop to still use Windows 10.

I can't see why, it has better specs than my acer. Did you actually try loading on a fresh copy of 10? Or just try to upgrade?

maybe run an LTSB/LTSC version of Win10 on an old machine

I'm using an old Dell Inspiron e1405 laptop (used to have Vista, then upgraded to Win7 and then to Win10 LTSB/LTSC), 4Gb of RAM, 320Gb Seagate HDD, Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T7600 processor, currently running Win10 LTSB 2016 (v1607) os - that way I don't have to deal with installing new W10 feature updates though I may consider upgrading to Win10 LTSC 2019 (v1809) down the road

I'm running the latest LTSC on this old junker of mine (Asus vivobook x202e).
It runs just fine even on an old slower than frozen turds seagate 5200rpm stock hdd.
Waiting for my new replacement Clevo to get here then this things gonna get tweaked a bit with at least an ssd...I think the rams soldered tho....

That was a clean install the drivers for Windows 10 will not work for that old of a laptop. There were drivers issues with the lcd display information window.

I can't see why it won't work. It has better specs than my acer running a core 2 duo from 2007 as well. Same time frame.
